About the Book

(Taken from the author’s website)

How far would you go to protect the ones you love?

When novelist Sienna Emory receives a desperate call from an old college friend, she feels compelled to try and help her. The Cheney she remembers was a free-spirited song writer with an amazing ability to translate all of life’s pain and joy into her work, but drugs and alcohol have made her a shell of her former self.

When Sienna arrives at Cheney’s house, she finds Cheney passed out in the driveway; what she doesn’t expect to find is Jonathan Driscoll, a handsome single father living nearby, who has obviously been there before.

Never able to have children of her own, Sienna is delighted to get to know Jonathan and his daughter Bella. However, Bella is not a typical five-year-old girl. She tells stories that she couldn’t possibly know, and when she prays, she seems to communicate on a direct line to God.

As Sienna and Jonathan’s love grows, while dealing with their friend Cheney’s issues, Sienna discovers more about God’s plans for them. Will their faith be strong enough to protect them against evil?

In her second novel, author Dawn Dyson seamlessly weaves together a touching love story with weighty spiritual topics such as overcoming abuse, trusting God, and stepping into your spiritual gifts.

As Sienna and Jonathan search for answers regarding Bella’s gifts, they must draw on a strength of character and trust in God they aren’t sure they possess. Their search leads them to Jonathan’s hometown in Ireland and a family secret.

Bella Maura is the first novel in the exhilarating series Beautiful Justice that will open your mind to the spiritual opportunities and challenges that face us all.

My Thoughts

When Sienna Emory gets a call, out of the blue, from her old college roommate, Cheney, asking her for help, she drops everything to do what she can to help her old friend. She is shocked when she sees just how deep into the world of drugs and booze, this gifted songwriter as sunk. What she doesn’t expect is to meet her soulmate, Jonathon Driscoll, over the passed out body of her friend.

Jonathon Driscoll is the hadsome single father of the highly gifted 5 year old Bella, neighbor AND Cheney’s ex-husband. Sienna and Jonathon quickly develop a bond as they work together to help Cheney. A bond that deepens and is cemented, when Sienna begins to realize the great God-given gift that Bella possesses, and helps to guide Jonathon to understand God’s guiding hand in it.

Woven through this intense, spiritual journey, full of the harsh realities and hard-hitting realism of the author’s portrayal of characters dealing with addiction and the aftermath of abuse, is an absolutely beautiful love story. The love story of a man and a woman, the love story of a parent for their child and the love story of God for mankind.

Mrs. Dyson’s writing is lyrical, it’s as if she is painting a picture with words. The book is poetic, almost songlike in its rhythm and flow, in the way she describes everyday beauty. This book has touched me in a way that is difficult to describe. Bella Maura is an absolutely breathtaking book, with a powerful message, one that I can’t wait to explore in the second installment of the Beautiful Justice series. I would like to thank Dawn Dyson for allowing me the opportunity to read and review this powerful book.

She hadn’t had the personal trials to tear her apart yet, nor the experience of God’s hand putting her back together, so she simply couldn’t put anything useful into words. -pg. 23 of Bella Maura by Dawn Dyson

About the Author

Dawn Dyson lives with her husband on a farm in Nebraska and has degrees in both Animal Science and Education. She currently serves as the farm’s office manager, but writing is her primary passion. She describes her writing as a God-given gift and strives to incorporate Christian themes throughout each of her works. She encourages others to find their passion in life, link it with God’s and then share it with the world.

The Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may read it as he hastens by. For the vision is yet for an appointed time and it hastens to the end fulfillment; it will not deceive or disappoint. Though it tarry, wait earnestly for it, because it will surely come; it will not be behindhand on its appointed day. — Habakkuk 2:2-3
