My Memories Suite #Review and #Giveaway Ends 11/13/2011

Having never been bitten by the scrapbooking bug, I have absolutely zero experience in traditional scrapbooking, hybrid scrapbooking or digital scrapbooking. I am, however, interested in the “idea” of scrapbooking. I find myself drawn to completed scrapbook pages and layouts and when I go into a store that carries scrapbooking supplies I invariably find myself looking at all the creative ideas. I rifle through the scrapbook papers (they’re all just so fun!), I browse all the embellisments and I will even page through the scrapbooking and paper crafting magazines on occasion. I suppose I am just not patient enough to spend the time necessary to actually complete anything so ambitious as an entire album! But, I do appreciate the art.

When I was recently contacted by MyMemories.com asking me if I would be interested in doing a review and giveaway on the blog, I hesitated. I mean, what could I really share with my lovely visitors about scrapbooking when I have never even attempted to do it? As with all review requests I receive, I checked out the product online. I looked at their website to see what the product offered and I also checked out a few reviews of the product online. After seeing everything the program is capable of, I decided to give it a try.

You can create entire photo albums, personalized calendars, professionally printed hardbound books (at the touch of a button), movies, interactive album discs, posters, trading cards, blog headers and so much more. It is so very versatile, and it’s mostly click and drag. It’s very user friendly. And with all the wonderful kits available on their site (some are even offeredFREE!) and the ability to import other scrapbook kits the potential seems limitless.

Having no experience with a program such as this, I watched a few tutorials featured on their facebook page. And that’s when it hit me, I could actually create my own blog header with this program. So, I followed a couple different tutorials and worked out how to put together a new blog header and button for my site. I have been hemming and hawing for about 18 months now about how best to visually brand this blog. Up until now, I have always just had a text header, with no graphics to make it look pretty.

Not anymore! Thanks to MyMemories Suite, I managed to put together a really clean and simple header that fits me and my blog, and I did it with only the tools and textures that came with the program, with the exception of the beaker. That came from a free icon set that I removed the color from and imported it into the program. I just added it as an embellishment and browsed to it from within the program. Easy-Peasy!

And not only that, I figured out how to make a cute button that matches!

I am really quite pleased with the results!
